Welcome to Recipe Mixtape. Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using our mobile application.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Recipe Mixtape ("the App," "Service," "we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Recipe Mixtape is a mobile application that helps users:
- Save recipes from websites, typed text, or photographed recipe cards
- Organize recipes into personal cookbooks and collections
- Access recipes across devices with cloud synchronization
- Extract recipes from images using AI-powered text recognition
The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use.
3. User Accounts
Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Recipe Mixtape
- If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent
Account Responsibility
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
- You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- One account per person; sharing accounts is not permitted
Account Information
- You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
- You agree to update your information to keep it current
4. User Content
Ownership
- You retain ownership of all recipes, notes, and other content you create or import ("User Content")
- Recipe Mixtape does not claim ownership of your User Content
License Grant
By using the Service, you grant Recipe Mixtape a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:
- Store, process, and display your User Content to provide the Service
- Create backups of your User Content for data protection
- Process your User Content through third-party services (such as AI extraction) as necessary to provide features
This license exists solely to operate and improve the Service and terminates when you delete your content or account.
Content Restrictions
You agree not to upload, import, or share content that:
- Infringes on any third party's intellectual property rights
- Is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or harassing
- Contains malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Violates any applicable laws or regulations
Recipe Attribution
- When importing recipes from third-party websites, Recipe Mixtape stores the source URL for attribution
- You are responsible for respecting the intellectual property rights of recipe creators
- Personal use of imported recipes is generally acceptable; commercial use may require permission from the original creator
5. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use automated systems, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Circumvent any security measures or access controls
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Collect or harvest user information without consent
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service
6. Intellectual Property
Our Property
The following are owned by Recipe Mixtape and protected by intellectual property laws:
- App design, user interface, and user experience
- Source code, software, and algorithms
- Trademarks, logos, and branding
- Documentation and written content (excluding User Content)
Your Property
- You retain all rights to your User Content
- Recipes you create originally are your intellectual property
- Recipes imported from other sources remain the property of their original creators
7. Third-Party Services
Recipe Mixtape uses third-party services to provide functionality:
- Supabase for authentication and data storage
- Anthropic Claude API for AI-powered recipe extraction
- Expo/EAS for app distribution
Your use of Recipe Mixtape is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of these third-party services.
8. Disclaimers
Service "As Is"
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS.
Recipe Accuracy
- We do not guarantee the accuracy of recipes extracted from images or websites
- AI extraction may contain errors; always verify important details
- We are not responsible for cooking results or recipe outcomes
Dietary and Health Information
- Recipe Mixtape is not a substitute for professional nutritional advice
- We do not verify allergen information, nutritional values, or dietary claims
- Users with food allergies or dietary restrictions should verify all ingredients independently
- We are not liable for any adverse health effects from recipes used through the Service
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RECIPE MIXTAPE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS (OR $100 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID ANYTHING).
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Recipe Mixtape, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Your User Content
11. Termination
By Us
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
- Abuse the Service or other users
We will attempt to provide notice before termination unless immediate action is required.
By You
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. Upon deletion:
- Your User Content will be permanently removed
- This action cannot be undone
Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive will remain in effect.
12. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- For material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email
- Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms
If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
13. General Provisions
- Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States.
- Dispute Resolution: Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except for claims that qualify for small claims court.
- Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
- Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement.
- No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it in the future.
